The Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA) will be present at this year’s Converge conference, standing alongside the broader construction sector to champion the vital role cranes play in building the nation.
Cranes are at the heart of Australia’s growth and productivity story. Without them, projects stall, costs blow out, and communities wait longer for the services they need.
CICA CEO Brandon Hitch said the decision to support and attend Converge reflects CICA’s commitment to make sure the crane industry is heard in the places where decisions are made.
“Cranes don’t just lift steel and concrete, they lift productivity, local jobs, and economic growth,” Brandon Hitch said.
“Converge brings together the people who plan, design, regulate, and deliver Australia’s infrastructure. It’s critical they understand our industry’s contribution, the challenges we face, and the policies that will help us keep delivering safely and efficiently.”
At Converge, CICA is hoping to engage with policymakers, regulators, and industry partners to discuss:
• The operational realities of crane work, from road access to site safety
• The importance of consistent, practical regulation across jurisdictions
• Skills shortages and the need for targeted workforce development
• How enabling cranes enables timely, cost-effective project delivery
CICA’s presence at Converge is part of its broader campaign, to build public and government recognition of the sector’s professionalism, safety standards, and economic value.
